The organizers of the tennis exhibition at Liverpool are looking for more local corporate sponsorship as government funding for the event is reduced.
Anders Borg of Northern Vision, who described it as “one of the longest running and largest exhibitions in Europe,” said the event had an impact of 3 million pounds in the local area.
“We are looking for the private sector sponsorships to bridge the gap created [by] the public sector,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
The event, which has been expanded to four days, has Williams BMW and other sponsors, but has to find additional partners because of the stop to local council funding.
Eugenie Bouchard and Aljaz Bedene are the featured players scheduled for the event.
