Singles - Semifinal: B Paire def. (1) P Andujar 6-3 1-6
6-3
Pablo Andujar has been playing non-stop for weeks. We
have to think this result is more a comment on how tired
he is than on how well Benoit Paire is playing. But it
is a real blow to Andujar's Roland Garros seeding hopes;
he will stay stuck around #36. For Paire, the result
represents his first ATP final.
Singles - Semifinal: (2) A Seppi def. (4) D Nalbandian
2-6 6-2 7-5
David Nalbandian really does seem to be losing
something. He will remain below #45. And below Andreas
Seppi. We show Seppi up to probably #37. Winning the
title would take him high enough that a Roland Garros
seed becomes fairly likely.
Doubles - Semifinal: Emmrich/Siljestrom def. (2) Lipsky/R
Ram 6-2 6-4
Doubles - Semifinal: (3) Erlich/A Ram def. Andujar/Garcia-Lopez
6-3 3-6 10-8 (Match TB)

Singles - Semifinal: (1) J del Potro def. (3) S Wawrinka
7-6(7-2) 6-4
This definitely gets the award for the week's most
predictable event -- top four seeds in the semifinals,
now the top two in the final. Juan Martin del Potro, if
we did everything right, is back to #11; Stanislas
Wawrinka falls just short of the Top Twenty.
Singles - Semifinal: (2) R Gasquet def. (4) A Ramos 2-6
7-6(7-1) 7-5
Albert Ramos will have to settle for being just above
#40. Still, he's hitting career highs almost weekly....
Doubles - Semifinal: (4) Knowle/Marrero def. Elgin/Istomin
7-6(7-4) 5-7 10-6 (Match TB)
Munich
Singles - Semifinal: (4) P Kohlschreiber def. (2) F
Lopez 6-2 6-7(4-7) 6-4
In one sense, Munich is fine preparation for Madrid: It
is the "other" clay event played at a high elevation, so
players have a chance to adjust to the lower air
pressure. But who wants to get too tired there?
Obviously, Germans have the most motivation.... Philipp
Kohlschreiber is up to around #26; his Roland Garros
seed now looks just about sure. He leaves Feliciano
Lopez at #16.
Singles - Semifinal: (3) M Cilic def. (WC) T Haas 6-3
6-4
Not even German-ness could help Tommy Haas against a
resurgent Marin Cilic. It's just possible that a title
would put Cilic back in the Top Twenty.
Doubles - Semifinal: Malisse/Norman def. Brown/Waske 6-4
3-6 10-7 (Match TB)
