Clijsters is Firm on This Her Final Wimbledon
Kim
Clijsters won't back down from her vow that this will be her last
Wimbledon, with the four-time major winner determined to give her all in
her final appearance.
Roddick’s Ranking Jumps Due to His Win on Grass
Eastbourne
grass-court champion Andy Roddick heads to Wimbledon with extra
confidence after winning the final ATP-WTA tune-up event prior to the
start of the Grand Slam. The three-time Wimbledon finalist was pleased
with his defeat of holder Andreas Seppi of Italy 6-3, 6-2.
Roddick
lifted his ranking from 33rd to 25th as he starts Wimbledon as the 30th
seed.
Wozniacki Changes String Tension
Former
No.1 Caroline Wozniacki is going to great lengths to try and add more
power to her game, lowering her string tension from 25.5 kilograms to 21
kg. That's a pretty radical swing for a pro player, but her new coach,
Thomas Johansson, has seen immediate results.
Federer is Eager to Win His Seventh Wimbledon Title
Roger
Federer is primed for the start of Wimbledon as the record-holding
16-time Grand Slam champion begins his campaign for a seventh career
trophy at the grass court major. The holder of the all-time record for
majors could use a boost after winning his last Slam two and a half
years ago at the Australian Open.
But
after claiming four ATP trophies this season and posting another Roland
Garros semi-final, the 30-year-old Swiss feels his game is exactly where
he wants it to be. "My confidence is very good, I'm not lacking matches,
I'm match fit," he said.
Murray Lashes Back at Recent Charges
Wimbledon
fourth seed Andy Murray, again burdened with the national hopes for a
British male champion at the All England Club after a 76 years wait from
Fred Perry’s last triumph, has hit back in an angry manner at his
growing band of critics who railed on him after his injury dramas at the
recent French Open.
“I’m
not accepting it anymore because it’s not fair,” said the fourth seed
who is bidding to go further than the semi-final stage where he has been
beaten three years in succession. “I think eight pain-killing injections
in your back before the French Open justifies a genuine injury.
