Israelis Very Proud Of Defeating Federer In Olympic
Doubles
Politicians
are turning into sports fans like everyone else at the Olympic Games and
Israel’s Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, a known tennis
follower, was fulsome in his praise for the doubles pair of Andy Ram and
Jonathan Erlich who ousted defending gold medalists Roger Federer and
Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland from the Men’s Doubles.
Lieberman wrote on his Facebook page, “As a tennis fan I
salute tonight Israeli tennis players Israeli Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich,
who made a huge achievement for Israeli sports and for them personally,
when they beat the champions from the last Olympic Games led by Roger
Federer."
Murray Is Watching Olympic Events And Wants His Own Medal
The
last time the male version of the Rogers Cup was played in Toronto two
years ago, Andy Murray took the title with impressive back to back
victories over Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. However after the rigors
of the Olympic Games, the Scot is not setting his sights too high this
year after a rapid trans-Atlantic switch of surface and continent.
Haas Still Steaming About Not Being Nominated for
Olympics
Germany's
Olympic tennis exile Tommy Haas still cannot believe that he is not
competing at the London Games. But the 34-year-old longtime national
stalwart is burying his disappointment by playing this week in the ATP
event in Washington, a decade and a half after first competing at the
venue in the US capital.
Raonic Proving He Can Play With The Top Players
The
big-match pressure is starting to build on Canadian Milos Raonic after
the potential top 10 candidate failed to measure up at another of the
major events in tennis. The No. 23 put up a huge fight in a
record-breaking 6-3, 3-6, 25-23 London Olympic second-round defeat by
French fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at the London Olympics.
