Britain’s Top Two Women Players Are Moving Up

Britain’s two young female stars are serving notice they intend to enhance their reputation in 2013.

Laura Robson caught the tennis public’s attention by ousting Grand Slam champions Kim Clijsters and Li Na at the recent US Open before reaching last weekend’s final in Guangzhou and Heather Watson gave world no.2 Maria Sharapova a major scare in this week’s Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.

 

BBC Official Doesn’t Like The Grunting On Court

The list of those who decry the trend of ‘grunting’ in tennis gained another notable signature as Barbara Slater, the Director of Sport with the BBC in Britain.

“It is a shame, and some of our audience clearly don’t like that,” insisted Slater, a former Olympic gymnast for Britain who is the first woman to hold the coveted Director of Sport title at the BBC.

 

Tipsarevic Likes Bangkok

Thoughtful top seed Janko Tipsarevic has emerged pleasantly surprised into the quarter-finals of the Thailand Open as his first impressions of a debut Bangkok visit continue to sink in.

"I was surprised at how well the city is structured. The only impressions I had of Bangkok were from The Hangover II film. But actually, I've found none of the chaos and mayhem (of the film)."

 

Rafter Shows He Is A Good Citizen

Australian Davis Cup captain Patrick Rafter has been spending a few days away from tennis doing tourism promotion on the tropical far north of the island-continent, The popular two-time Grand Slam winner has done his bit accompanied by his wife and children in picturesque Port Douglas, jumping-off point for the Great Barrier Reef.

A professional tennis photographer has been shooting for almost 40 years at all the major and minor tennis tournaments for the wires systems, daily newspapers, magazines and advertising agencies. He has been to venues all over the world and has compiled tennis images (archives) of all the professionals and some juniors.  The images have all been preserved in a temperature-controlled environment and are color positives (slides), color and black & white negatives and contact sheets, as well as digital. There are in excess of 400,000 images and they are for sale. Seller will transfer copyright and will give total usage to the purchaser.
