Sharapova And
Williams Say WTA Drug Program Is Sufficient
The
current spiraling fall from grace of Lance Armstrong has brought the
issue of drug testing in today’s sport once more into the focus. However
the two household names of female tennis, Serena Williams and Maria
Sharapova, both insist the current measures laid down by the World Anti
Doping Agency and adhered to by the WTA are sufficient.
Illness Forces
Kvitova To Withdraw From Istanbul
The
WTA Championships have gotten off to an inauspicious start in what could
be an abbreviated run in Turkey, with former Wimbledon winner Petra
Kvitova withdrawing due to illness after one losing match. The Czech
cited a viral illness as the reason and will be replaced in the draw by
2011 US Open winner Samantha Stosur, another dethroned Grand Slam
champion.
Ferrero Retires

Former
No. 1 and French Open champion Juan Carlos Ferrero choked back the tears
as he retired at his home event in Valencia, joining Andy Roddick and
Ivan Ljubicic in pulling the plug on their careers in 2012.
Tomic Is Being
Advised To Find A Good Coach
Bernard
Tomic, suffering a horrendous end to the competitive year after another
morale kicking humiliation at the Swiss Indoors event at Basel, has been
told he quickly needs to address his coaching situation. And the man the
Australian youngster has been advised to appoint by highly regarded
