Nadal Withdraws
From Balance Of The ATP Season
The
inevitable became fact as Rafael Nadal finally killed all optimism that
he could make a return to the ATP scene this year when the former world
no.1, sidelined since Wimbledon, announced his ongoing problems in the
left knee decreed he must withdraw from both next week’s BNP Paribas
Masters in Paris and the ensuing Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in
London.
Tomic To Lose
Australian #1 Ranking
The
run at national No. 1 is over for Bernard Tomic with the tapped-out
player set to be passed on Monday by Marinko Matosevic as the Aussie top
player on the ATP ranking.

Empathizes With Nadal
Argentine
Juan Del Potro has fulfilled a 2012 tennis dream by reaching the
year-end final after a victory at the Swiss Indoors.
But the South
American who booked into the seventh spot at the World Tour Finals feels
sympathy for injured rival Rafael Nadal, who withdrew injured a few
hours earlier with continuing knee problems to open the door for Del
Potro.

Margaret Osborne DuPont Passes Away
The
Board of Directors and Staff of the International Tennis Hall of Fame &
Museum mourn the loss of one of America's great early tennis champions,
former world No. 1 Margaret Osborne duPont. She passed away yesterday in
Texas at the age of 94. During a lengthy career from the early 1940s
through the early 1960s, duPont won an incredible 37 titles at Grand
Slam tournaments in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, which places
her fourth on the all-time record list, despite the fact that she never
entered the Australian Championships.
