London Masters Draw Announced
John
McEnroe and Ivan Lendl are to clash at the Royal Albert Hall in London
on Friday December 9 after the draw for the Statoil Masters Tennis,
which runs December 5-9-, was made.
In
Group A of the Legends event, McEnroe and Lendl were drawn against
Jeremy Bates, with Group B featuring the 1987 Wimbledon champion Pat
Cash, seven-time Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander and Henri Leconte.
Watson And Robson Honored In London
Andy
Murray’s Olympic and US Open titles have given tennis a far higher
profile in British spot but the young female duo of Heather Watson and
Laura Robson have also played a major role. So it was fitting the pair
have been jointly named Young Sportswomen of the Year Award at the 2012
Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards.
Federer Misses His Former Rivals
As
he motors through to another semi-final at the World Tour Finals with
ease, Roger Federer is sparing a thought for the retired rivals of his
tennis generation who are no longer in the mix. In the last month,
over-30 players including Juan Carlos Ferrero, Andy Roddick and Ivan
Ljubicic have all packed in their careers after varying levels of
success.
Tipsarevic Not Happy With His London Performance
Serb
Janko Tipsarevic has pulled no punches after losing two group matches at
the World Tour Finals and missing out on any chance of reaching the
semi-finals in his second year of competing in the year-end competition.
"If you ask me if I'm happy with my performance, I'm not. I'm playing
horrible. I'm playing worst than horrible. I'm playing the worst
tennis that I played in a long time. But I'm on the court, behaving
good, not throwing my racquet, giving my best."
