Maybe Keys Is The
Next American Star
The
United States is desperately looking for a new female tennis star to
fill the huge gap that will be left at some time or another by Serena
and Venus Williams. Former champions Lindsay Davenport and Pam Shriver
believe the search may have found fruition with Madison Keys.
This is Not A Good
Open For Australian Players
It's
all about lost pride in Australia after an historic collapse of national
hopes over the first three days of the Open.
Midway through the
first week of the fortnight, three Aussies from 16 are alive in the
second round at Melbourne Park, the worst showing in the post-1968 Open
era. The local debacle follows by seven months the worst Australian
showing at Wimbledon since before World War II.
Djokovic Tolerates
Harrison’s Boasts Then Wins 6-1, 6-2, 6-3
Novak
Djokovic is more than tolerant of past empty boasts from young American
Ryan Harrison, whom he schooled in straight sets in their Australian
Open second-round match. The world No. 1 Serb need only hark back to his
own early days to recall that big talk was all part of the learning
process.
Thanks To Her
Nerves, Stosur Loses At Home
Australia’s
great hope Samantha Stosur again fell foul to the nerves and anxiety
that annually seem to hit her whenever she plays on home soil and
admitted to choking in her second round Australian Open demise.
