ITF
Celebrates World Tennis Day
The
ITF is launching World Tennis Day on Monday, March 4 in a bid to promote
tennis and increase participation among young players around the globe.
World Tennis Day will be centred around two high-profile
events - the well-established BNP Paribas Showdown in New York’s Madison
Square Garden and a new event of the same name to be played at the
AsiaWorld-Arena in Hong Kong.
MSG Networks To
Air BNP Paribas Showdown Preview
Before
four of the biggest names in tennis take the court at Madison Square
Garden, MSG Networks will present “The World of Tennis: BNP Paribas
Showdown Preview” show on March 1 at 5:30 p.m. on MSG. The sixth annual
BNP Paribas Showdown will take place Monday, March 4 at Madison Square
Garden and will feature Rafael Nadal, Victoria Azarenka, Serena Williams
and Juan Martin del Potro.
Berdych Suggests
On-Court Clocks To Speed Up Play
Tomas
Berdych was one of the harshest critics of the ATP World Tour’s new
umpiring directive to tighten up on time rules between serves at the
beginning of the year. “It's so simple,” said the world no.6.
“Let's put the clock there. Then everybody goes by the clock. Up to
now it's really inconsistent and the umpires should be more clear on
what is going on.
Fish To Play
Indian Wells
It's
finally looking like a comeback to the ATP for Mardy Fish, who has
played only occasionally - and not during the past six months - after
his heart-scare problems began a year ago. Now the former top 10 player
now ranked 32, has said he expects to return to the court at the Indian
Wells Masters, to be followed by his home event in Miami.
Djokovic Says Tour
Players Should Remember To Interact With The Fans
Sport
and its’ megastars such as Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong and Oscar Pistorius have
been involved in controversy that has moved from the sports pages of
newspapers to the front. Now Novak Djokovic believes it is time to
redress the balance.
Federer
Understands What Davydenko Is Going Through
Roger
Federer can relate to his longtime rival Nikolay Davydenko on many
levels, including the fact that both veterans are now fathers, traveling
the ATP with their young children. Federer, who posed his 19th win from
21 meetings with the quirky Russian who once stood inside the top 5,
understands his longtime opponent from all angles.
