Meeting Agrees To New Anti-Doping Rules
Tennis’
anti-doping summit meeting, held in New York on Tuesday produced an
unequivocal agreement from all parties for the sport to adopt the
biological passport program and to increase blood testing as part of an
initiative to ensure things are proven to be clean from the use of any
outlawed substance.
Wozniacki And
McIlroy Claim Everything Is Fine In Their Romance
Being
the sporting word’s most prominent romantic couple comes with a price
for former tennis world no.1 Caroline Wozniacki and current golfing
world leader Rory McIlroy. And the two are both at pains to point out
that just because things haven’t gone too well in their respective areas
of competition lately, everything is fine in their relationship.
Lendl Not
Convinced Nadal “Is Back”
Old
pro Ivan Lendl is withholding judgment on the comeback of Rafael Nadal
until after this week's start of a stern test on hardcourt at the Indian
Wells Masters. The 11-time Grand Slam winner boasts a return to tennis
which has netted minor titles at ATP 250 events.
US Open Playoffs
To Be Held
The
USTA announced that the US Open National Playoffs will return for a
fourth year to expand the footprint of the US Open to cities nationwide
by providing the opportunity for all players 14 years of age and older
to earn a berth into the US Open. The US Open National Playoffs will
again include both men’s and women’s singles, as well as mixed doubles
in 2013.
