Nadal Talks To The
World Media
Rafael
Nadal knew the questions on the state of his knees and whether they
would hold up to the demands of hard court tennis would be repetitive
and probing as he faced up to the press at Indian Wells. And he was as
cautious with his answers as he will be when playing his first shots in
the BNP Paribas Open.
Initially Nadal made
the futile request: “"Forget about the knees, please!”
British Youngsters
Lose Early In Indian Wells
British
tennis fans could be considering something of a reassessment after the
recent disappointing runs of Heather Watson and Laura Robson has cast
doubts on the optimism that the home nation might have two seeded
players in this year’s Wimbledon singles.
Townsend Getting
Introduced To The Big Time
Sixteen-year-old
American Taylor Townsend is already getting an introduction to the big
time world of pro tennis.
Townsend, who won her
first WTA main draw match over Lucie Hradecka in the first round of the
BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, is quite pleased to be walking around
with a pro player badge rather than a junior one. But she also realizes
she has yet to join the elite ranks, which is clear by the how the
locker rooms are set up.
Baltacha Thinking
About Coming Back To Play The Tour
Britain’s
former no.1 Elena Baltacha, sidelined since the Olympics because of foot
surgery and now down to no.192 on the WTA rankings believes she can once
again overtake the pair of British youngsters Heather Watson and Laura
Robson even though she will turn 30 years of age in six months’ time.
