Winning In Monte Carlo Has Special Meaning for Djokovic

There is no more patriotic sporting Serbian than Novak Djokovic but the he has made his home in the tax-free principality of Monaco since 2006 and therefore to win the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters and do so by ending the eight year winning run of Rafael Nadal, ranks as one of the world’s no.1’s most emotional triumphs.

 

 

Nadal Reached Right Mentality For Clay

No player perhaps with the possible exception of the great Swede Bjorn Borg had a better understanding as to how to play on clay than seven-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal does. While Nadal was unable to win his ninth straight title in Monte Carlo when Novak Djokovic upset him on Sunday, he still does own 36 titles on clay.

 

 

Nadal Heads To Barcelona Looking For Consistency

Despite his comeback in Monte Carlo last week, Rafael Nadal heads to Barcelona still searching for the consistency which has made him the terror of the clay for a decade. The Spaniard, who may or may not have played in the principality with a back problem, - he's not telling - said that despite his physical condition, there are still parts of his game which he needs to bring back to his former top level.

 

Murray Took A Fed Cup Gamble And Lost 

The Murray family have enjoyed better weeks in tennis. Son Andy lost his world no.2 ranking after an early defeat in the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters and mother Judy admitted the biggest gamble she had taken since becoming Britain’s Fed Cup captain backfired.

The City of Coronado, California, is requesting proposals from qualified individuals or companies to provide retail tennis merchandise concessionaire services at the reconstructed Tennis Center.
