IPTL To Hold Draft Next Week

The International Premier Tennis League is close to its start by holding a player draft. The IPTL Player draft is set to be held March 2 at the Uberoi hotel in Dubai, the new unique platform which will see some notable men, women and past champions play as part of a teams in first-of-its-kind Asian tennis league.

 

Federer Mixes It Up in Familiar Territory 

Roger Federer might appear to be in very familiar territory this week at the Dubai Duty Free Championships. He has won the title five times in an 11 year span dating back to 2003 and has a home in the Emirate but he’s going about things a little differently at this year’s event.

 

Enqvist To Coach Verdasco

Former Australian Open finalist Thomas Enqvist has joined the coaching game as he takes on supervision of Fernando Verdasco. One-time ATP No. 4 Enqvist, 39, is hoping to help lift the Spaniard back into the top 10 from his current 33rd ranking.

Gael Monfils, who is committed to play in the BB&T Atlanta Open for the first time in 2014 and is excited about it: “I like to play in front of anybody. I like to play for a full crowd and I like to play on the American hard courts. If the crowd gets into the action, that makes it even better. I'm looking forward to playing in front of the fans in Atlanta for the first time.” . . . "More is More" is the tagline of the new Credit Suisse advertising campaign for the Boniva banking package. In the TV ad, this is visually depicted in a number of scenes with Roger Federer. . . Organizers of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell and the company Orangina Schweppes have signed a five-year agreement. Orangina Schweppes will sponsor the Catalan clay-court tournament until 2018, providing soft drinks, energy drinks and juices. . . Madison Keys was a late entry to Acapulco and was forced to play qualifying, and did qualify, along with American teen Victoria Duval who bested another teen, Swiss Belinda Bencinc in a third set tiebreaker. Aussie teen Ash Barty also made it into the main draw. The tournament has switched to hard courts and Sam Querrey is also playing there. . . Eugenie Bouchard and Grigor Dimitrov took part in a highly ported stunt organized by the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL, riding a helicopter and a yacht, and then playing some mini-tennis on a court built in the middle of Acapulco Bay.

Sales Manager

The College Park Tennis Club (CPTC) is interviewing for a full time sales manager at its facility in College Park ,MD, minutes from Washington DC.  

The CPTC is a premiere tennis club, a USTA Regional Training Center and  home of the Junior Tennis Champions Center and the University of Maryland tennis team. The CPTC is an award-winning facility and is recognized as one of the most comprehensive tennis venues in the United States.

Sales Manager is responsible for generating new memberships and maximizing retention of existing members.  Duties include internal and external lead generation, networking, prospecting, tours, corporate outreach and promoting our patented beginner tennis program, “Rally in 10”. Must be proficient with all social media, including generating leads on our websites, cptennisclub.net and jtcc.org. A tennis playing/teaching background is preferred and an appreciation of the values of the sport is mandatory.

This position reports directly to General MANAGER Ajay Pant and also to CEO Ray Benton on external sales and outreach. The most important function is to generate new business in the form of club memberships, club events and partnerships with organizations in the surrounding area.  A confident outgoing personality is essential as this person will be the initial identity of CPTC in the community.

OVERVIEW:

Wilson Sporting Goods is looking for a Digital Specialist to be responsible for supporting the design and implementation of all digital and community based assets for the Racquet Sports Division.  This hands-on role will execute the development and implementation of digital materials that support and improve the company’s online user experience while systematically growing the brands reach and presence. 

Specific duties may include:

  • Support the development, implementation and evolution of the Wilson Racquet Sports Divisions Business to Consumer (B2C) and Business to Business (B2B) online programs

  • Administer and monitor the businesses digital media strategies and performance, including scheduling, budgets and providing periodic status reports to management, and incorporating feedback to and from the executive level 

  • Administer and support the brands Social Media strategy and targeted marketing programs such as SEM, SEO, CRM, online media and other acquisition and customer retention programs

  • Administer and manage the scope of work with outside digital agencies and in-house marketing team to achieve critical online growth goals

  • Manage the user experience (UX) for Wilson.com/tennis and support the further development of Wilson’s global web presence

  • Manage brand and retail partner website shopping cart strategies including maintenance and brand promotional execution

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors Degree in design, marketing, computer science, or extensive and relevant experience

  • 3 years experience in completing and managing online projects with minimal oversight and against aggressive timelines

  • 3 years online support experience with a strong technical foundation

  • 3 years experience with online content management

  • 3 years experience drawing conclusions and creating action plans based on analysis of data

  • Previous Tennis experience is highly preferred (playing, coaching)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to digest web and online sales metrics to demonstrate return on investment and overall performance

  • Extensive experience in building brand communities utilizing social media content appropriate for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc

  • Comprehensive knowledge of e-marketing strategies and implementation, including website content management, search engine optimization and tracking, database management, email marketing

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple requests at once

  • Continual attention to detail in producing deliverables, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines

  • Experience with working with marketing and sales professionals desirable

  • Strong knowledge of web technologies (HTML & JavaScript & Flash)

  • Limited travel about 5%

A Collection of Tennis Images For Sale

A professional tennis photographer has been shooting for almost 40 years at all the major and minor tennis tournaments for the wires systems, daily newspapers, magazines and advertising agencies. He has been to venues all over the world and has compiled tennis images (archives) of all the professionals and some juniors.  The images have all been preserved in a temperature-controlled environment and are color positives (slides), color and black & white negatives and contact sheets, as well as digital.
