Williams And Halep Names US Open 1 And 2 Seeds

The USTA announced that world No. 1 and two-time defending US Open champion Serena Williams has been named the top seed in women’s singles at the 2014 US Open. This is the third time that Serena Williams has been the No. 1 seed at the US Open.  She won the title on both prior occasions (2002 and 2013).

World No. 2 Li Na, of China, withdrew from the US Open in July with a knee injury.

US Open Offers Wide Variety Of Food Options

The United States Tennis Association (USTA),  in conjunction with Levy Restaurants, the official restaurant partner of the US Open, announced that the world’s best tennis action again will be complemented by one of the world’s best sports and entertainment dining experiences.

This year’s menu includes unparalleled variety for all fans to enjoy, highlighted by local “street eats” from celebrity chef Richard Sandoval’s Maya in the Food Village, the US Open’s first-on-site food truck, and brand-new dining locations featuring the best local dining establishments in the Club Level in Arthur Ashe Stadium. In addition, this year’s menu reflects the unparalleled variety of culinary choices and includes specialty dishes crafted by celebrity chefs Masaharu Morimoto, Tony Mantuano, and David Burke.

For Wozniacki, New Haven Was Not Like “The Good ‘Ol Days”

Back in higher ranked times, New Haven had a habit of producing rich pickings for Caroline Wozniacki. The former world no.1 took the title four times at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale and seemed to be moving back to her best form with a 13-2 record since Wimbledon, her only defeats coming at the hands of current WTA rankings leader Serena Williams.

Wozniacki lost as early as the second round 6-4, 6-2 to Italy’s Camila Giorgi and the current world no.11, who is in training to run the New York Marathon after her tennis commitments finish this year, maintained fatigue was a decisive factor.

Andy Murray won't win another grand slam until he somehow deals with the demons inside his head which seem to be limiting his tennis. That's the thorough of John McEnroe, who is picking the underdone Novak Djokovic to somehow win the US Open.
