There will be a new ATP event in Sofia, the new site of the former tournament in Zagreb.
Organizers of the 250 event sold when they were unable to find sponsors, according to local publications. In Bulgaria, the tournament will have a title sponsor, Garanti Koza, which had sponsored the WTA Tournament of Champions when it was held in the city. The company is also constructing a tennis facility in the city, and is also involved in the ATP and WTA events in its base of Istanbul.
A top attraction for the event would be local favorite Grigor Dimitrov, but organizers did not say whether they would attempt to get the Bulgarian No. 1 to play the tournament.
The new tournament will have a total budget of about 1.4 million Euros, with the Bulgarian government giving about 250,000 of that amount.
The tournament will stay an indoor event.
