Shanghai-based brokerage firm Huajin Securities has agreed to be title sponsor of a new event, which is to feature the top singles players not to play in the WTA Finals Singapore – with 11 players ranked between nine and 19 and one wildcard. There will also be a doubles tournament.
The WTA Elite Trophy, which will be played annually in the Chinese city of Zhuhai until 2019, will offer prize money of US $2.15 million.
The inaugural edition of the Huajin Securities WTA Elite Trophy, which will replace the WTA Tournament of Champions on the calendar, will be played from November 3-8, at the conclusion of Singapore.
