Earlier this year Babolat introduced the first microchip tennis racket which allowed players to monitor the speed, force and swing pattern of their shots. Now the French company is augmenting their PLAY rackets with a new Babolat POP wristband that works in conjunction.
However the POP can be used with any type and make of racket and according to the manufacturer allows players to get more information and intelligence about their technique. Information becomes available that defines swing, analyze the quality of their topspin or measure overall performance based on the exciting data including: number and type of shot (forehands, backhands, smashes, volleys, serves), spin, power, playtime, best rally and number of shots per minute.
US Davis Cup player Sam Querrey uses Babolat products and is a member of the Babolat Pro Team. Therefore, he has experienced what the new device offers and wholeheartedly endorses the POP wristbands and said: “It’s great that it works with any racket.
“I can challenge my coach, my friends. Anyone that plays tennis could essentially use it.”
The Babolat POP is compatible with both iPhone 4s+ and android BLE smartphones and is affordable to most players, retailing a little more than US $100.
