Prominent businessman and philanthropist Harold Mitchell AC has retired from the Tennis Australia Board.
Mr Mitchell, a self-made and internationally successful media mogul and entrepreneur, is renowned for his philanthropy in sport and the arts.
He was a key member of the Tennis Australia Board for six years, making a major contribution to the direction and strategy of the company and helping to drive the business through the greatest growth period in its long history.
Tennis Australia President Steve Healy today paid glowing tribute to his former Vice President.
“Harold’s contribution has been nothing short of incredible and the sport of tennis will continue to benefit from his input for generations to come,” he said.
“People of his ilk are very hard to find and we are honoured he has given us such service.”
At the Tennis Australia Annual General Meeting in Melbourne this morning, Tennis West President Greg Hutchinson was elected from a three-candidate field for the vacant Director position.
Mr Hutchinson, the CEO of national healthcare provider Sonic HealthPlus, brings more major business development experience to the Tennis Australia Board for a three-year term.
Tennis Australia Vice President Chris Freeman AM had his role as Board-appointed Director extended for another two years, with fellow Board-appointed Director Scott Tanner’s role extended for one year.
