Five of Top Eight Seeds Alive in JSM Challenger

The ‘stacked’ lineup of matches on Tuesday Nov. 17 made for a great day of tennis at the 2015 JSM Challenger hosted by the Atkins Tennis Center. Main draw singles and doubles action will continue tomorrow Nov. 18 at 10:00am.

After day 2 of the main draw singles event, five out of eight seeds remain in the singles tournament, three of which were defeated today. One of these upsets included that of 2014 JSM Challenger finalist, Frederik Nielsen of Denmark, who upset the fourth seed James Duckworth of Australia. As for doubles, two teams advanced into the second round of the main draw.

All main draw play will continue tomorrow Nov. 18. The first feature match of the day consists of two unseeded players: young American Taylor Fritz versus Daniel Evans of Great Britain. Evans, coming straight from his first place success in Knoxville, defeated the seventh seed Bjorn Fratangelo today 3,3. Fritz is currently the No. 1 ranked junior in the word. Evans and Fritz will begin play on court 1 at 10:00am.

Another feature match tomorrow will be two American players: Francis Tiafoe and Eric Quigley. Tiafoe finished last year the No. 2 ranked junior in the world, and is coming off of a second place finish in last weeks Knoxville Challenger. Quigley, former Kentucky standout, is currently ranked 270 in the world, according to the ATP world rankings. The two will begin play on court 2 at Noon.
