Australia’s Channel Seven, the national network of the tournament, is ramping up its online presence as it increases its earnings from streaming products as well as sponsors of the broadcast.

Digital media now accounts for 15 percent of the channel’s earnings from the tournament, with the network’s three channels, Seven, Two, and mate, accounting for the rest. The network had 4.4 million streams during the tournament this year, which is expected to increase significantly.

High ratings have meant more sponsors, with ANZ and Kia staying on and Telstra, Blackmores, Industry Super Funds and William Hill joining the network’s broadcast.

To reflect this, there will be a significant increase in what is shown online, with a new app that will show 16 channels with a stream from every court.

The company also conducted research looking at how to communicate sponsor messages to consumers.

“We have changed the offerings quite a bit. We have reduced the amount of integrations that happened without good reason and really restructured the whole sponsorship integration package to include high-impact integrations that have deep social connections and can move on to other screens seamlessly,” said a channel executive.

The video production of the tournament will be done by Tennis Australia, which is filming all the more than 600 matches in the singles, doubles, junior competitions and others, as well as the practice courts.
