Nick Kyrgios Tennis News

Nick Kyrgios could be back on thin ice with tennis officials after an on-court explosion during a second-round loss at Indian Wells.  The Aussie with the notably short fuse, exploded with a few choice words during as he went down in defeat to a Spaniard.

Kyrgios got a warning at 2-2 in the second set for dropping a verbal bomb: “You used the F word,” French chair umpire Damien Dumusois said. Kyrgios’ response: “I didn’t say anything.”

The incident arose after a linesman apparently reported the Kyrgios outburst in the corner of the court. Moments later as he argued in vain, he added: “I don’t wanna play anymore, this is bulls**t.”

Kyrgios will need to watch his step less than a month after exiting a warning period imposed by the ATP for on-court incidents in 2015, including an outburst in Montreal against the girlfriend of opponent Stan Wawrinka which also cost him $25,000 in fines.

The 20-year-old Aussie successfully negotiated his probation – which contained a clause for a 28-day suspension for any infraction – but could go off the deep end again.

Kyrgios has been going through a bad patch after winning his first career title last month in Marseille but failing badly in Dubai, where he came down with a virus but struggled to the semi-finals where he lost to Wawrinka.

His illness kept him out of Australia’s Davis Cup loss to the US in Melbourne, with teammate Bernard Tomic’s complaints that he thought Kyrgios was “faking it,” with his fever.
