The public prosecutor of Paris is said to be looking at charges of possible corruption, improper use of influence and involvement in ticket scalping at the French tennis federation.
The Journal du Dimanche is claiming steps are being considered following the findings of two investigators, who were assigned to look into the allegations contained in an anonymous letter sent to the government 10 months ago. The letter, which was obtained by a French publication this year, alleged there was improper behavior that included federation president Jean Gachassin.
The prosecutor is described as looking at charges based on article 40 of the criminal code, which requires all public sector employees who become aware of criminal activity in the function of their duties to report such activity to the public prosecutor.
Gachassin, the letter said, used two private cars paid for by the federation and provided 600 French Open tickets to a friend and travel agent who resold them for much higher prices as VIP packages.
The findings of the investigators were due to be given to the Minister of Sport. The government has not issued any official findings.
