Tommy Haas will be celebrating the news of a coming expansion of his family as the 37-year-old works to reconstruct his tennis career after 2014’s third shoulder surgery. The former No. 2 will compete on a wild card in next week’s ATP Challenger event in Aptos, northern California, just as his actress wife Sara Foster revealed she is expecting the couple’s second child. The Haas family already has a daughter, four-year-old Valentina, who has been a regular presence since infancy in tennis spectating boxes. Foster is a solid presence on Twitter, giving the inside low-down on various aspects of parenting that she has experienced. “Full disclosure,” her sister Erin told BuzzFeed concerning Sara, a co-star in the Barely Famous reality series, based on the real lives of the two sisters. “Sara goes to bed around 7:30 p.m. That is true, because she wakes up early with her kid.” As for the tennis, Haas put in a call this week requesting a wild card entry and got an immediate acceptance. “It was a great feeling. Of course we would love to watch him,” said tournament director Judy Welsh. “He has a terrific game, is fun to watch. He has an all-purpose game. He can run the baseline, serves and volleys and is fun to watch. And he’s been ranked as high as No. 2 in the world. Of course we want him here.” Haas, ranked 849, owns 15 ATP titles and made his latest comeback to the sport in June, more than a year after he last played.
